Home of BAGA's Literature
Bengali Association of Greater Atlanta (BAGA) is serving the Bengali community around Atlanta area and other places around since 1979. In these past several decades BAGA became rich by immense literary contributions from its members. We are looking forward to nurturing it much more in the future. This site is dedicated for such dreams!
History
BAGA started with an annual publication during Durga Puja. In those early days desktop publishing was in its infancy and there was no computer to help the job easy. That did not stop BAGA from starting the publication stapled books out of photocopies. That's our heritage.
In the mid nineties, this brochure took the shape of a book. Then couple of years later a two-color cover page created an excitement. Soon it became as a four-color system for the cover. In 1998 the magazine got its formal name, "Pratichi" or "The West". In 2002, BAGA took a bold step by designing and printing Pratichi cover page in full color, for the first time. Since then, Pratichi continues to evolve and our goal is to improve it every year.
That is not the end of our story in the area of literature. BAGA started with another online publication, called eBAGAZINE. This is a monthly publication accessible here, in this site and which reflects the monthly topics of the community including useful tips and ethnic recipes. of our community more explicitly. It is packed with community news and encourages both young and adult members to submit contribution on a regular basis.
